Mental Health Awareness Week

Today sees the start of Mental Health Awareness Week, something which takes on added significance this time around given the somewhat challenging situation we all currently find ourselves in. The UK Government has acknowledged the effect that the pandemic can have on mental health and has produced some guidance to help people to look after their mental wellbeing during the coronavirus outbreak.

Travel during the Covid-19 Pandemic

As countries respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, the FCO advises UK nationals against all but essential international travel. However, both Norway and the UK both remain open for international travel, though some restrictions are in place. Should you need to travel during this period here is some information you might find useful.

Our Travel Advice page has information for those looking to travel to Norway and for those looking to return to the UK.

The Norwegian government also has a webpage with advice regarding travel during the pandemic. The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) has also produced a useful FAQ page about the current requirements for entry into Norway.

Many airlines are operating a reduced service and several of the usual direct services to the UK are currently grounded. Please check with the airline to see what travel options are open when you need to travel.

EU Exit Transition Period

We would also like to remind UK nationals living in Norway to stay informed via our Living in Norway guide and Facebook site. You can sign up to be alerted via email each time our guide is updated with new information.

Further support

The AIRE Centre is a charity and Law Centre which was established more than 25 years ago in London. With the support of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, it is working to ensure that British citizens in Norway are able to secure their residence status following the UK’s exit from the EU. Please visit the AIRE Centre’s website for more information or contact them via email with any specific questions on residency rights.

We are grateful for your help in sharing this information with any UK nationals in your organisations and networks.
